How to Make a Password Protected File
Have you been saving some pictures and video clips to your PC? Do you have files that you’d like to make inaccessible to other users? This is for you. Keep in mind - this is only for Microsoft Users.
- Gather your files into one file. Gather to desktop for convenience.
- Right click, any space without anything being there. Go to “new”, an new menu should show up next to it. Go to “Compressed (zipped) folder”. Give it a title.
- Repeat step 2.
- Wherever you put all the private files, select them all using the drag technique. When they are all selected, put them in one of the folders.
- The folder with the files saved to it drag that into the folder with nothing in it.
- Open the folder you just put the other folder in. Right click somewhere. Go to “Add a password…”
- The password can be whatever you want it to be, but keep it easy to remember, but hard for hackers to guess.
- Delete the private files that are anywhere else.
- There you have it! Your very own password-protected folder.
Tips

- Be sure you save it to a disk in case you need to access this folder to another computer.
- Close the folder every time you leave the room so other users won’t have access to this file.
- Follow these direction precisely and carefully. Should you screw this up, it’ll will be difficult to go back and undo any mistake you made.
